Booked from Hanoi to Vientiane. The bus LEFT ME AT THE BORDER. You heard me. They left a woman with only her phone and passport alone at the border, in the rain and cold. I left everything on the bus, even my shoes, I only went out with the bus slippers. My phone was dying, I didn't have data (cause only Vietnamese sim), I didn't speak the language, nobody spoke english, calling the office didn't work as they didn't speak english and I did not find anyone to translate, they always hung up on me and eventually even DISCONNECTED THE LINE to get rid of my "annoying calls". Easily the worst and scariest situation of my life, only with the help of a huge string of really nice people and coincidences (from someone sharing a hotspot to be able to google translate at the border, to people lending chargers, to bus drivers taking me on for free as I had no money, to somebody knowing a bus attendant of my original bus) that I eventually got reunited with all my stuff and arrived in Vientiane unharmed, even though I had been without food or water for 8 hours and was completely dehydrated. Absolute worst.
